RITES and ROOTS
Ceremonies by Alex Clare

Hi, I’m Alex
I'm an independent celebrant based in Swansea
and founder of Rites and Roots,
creating bespoke ceremonies for funerals, weddings, and life’s meaningful moments.
With years of experience
officiating services as a registrar under my belt, I bring professionalism,
emotional intelligence,
and a deep respect for ritual to every ceremony
My early career in hospitality
—from community pubs to live music venues—
taught me how to hold space for people from all walks of life.
I know how to read a room, keep things flowing, and make everyone feel welcome.
I’m proudly LGBTQ+ affirming, neurodivergent-friendly, and eco-conscious.
I work with clients of all identities, backgrounds, and beliefs,
and I’m committed to making ceremonies inclusive, accessible,
and kind to the planet
Whether that means sourcing sustainable materials,
reducing waste, or embracing nature as your venue,
I’ll help you honour your values every step of the way.
I’ve got a wildly eclectic taste in music (seriously, don’t tetest me),
and I welcome everything from classical strings to punk ballads,
rave anthems to acoustic lullabies.
There’s no judgement here—just a deep respect for whatever makes your story sing.
Whether you're saying goodbye,
saying "I do,"
or marking a moment,
I’m here to help you do it with soul, style, and a little bit of magic.
At Rites and Roots, every ceremony is crafted with intention, care, and a deep respect for the stories that shape us.
I design and deliver bespoke, inclusive ceremonies that honour who you are—your history, your values, your humour, your quirks, and the people you hold close.
Nothing is templated.
Nothing is generic.
Everything is created with you, for you.

Because love isn’t one-size-fits-all.
And neither are ceremonies.

A celebration of love that deepens, endures,
and chooses again.

Ceremonies for welcoming a child,
affirming identity, and blending families

Ceremonies that speak to the heart, not just the room.
